WT STEVENS HISTORY
WT Stevens moved to Flint Michigan in 1956 and began his home-based construction business in 1960. At that time, his assets consisted of a 10-yard dump truck, a tractor and a trailer. After a few years, he decided to expand the business and purchased a bulldozer, 12-yard dump truck and a backhoe. This allowed him to expand the business into grading, excavating, as well as concrete removal and replacement. In 1982 he added residential demolition to his portfolio, with the purchase of an excavator and a skid steer.
This expansion was instrumental in making his mark as one of the best minority contractors in the City of Flint. WTS became known as the company to call for an honest quote and quality in workmanship. All along the way it was his motto to employ members of the community and housing projects where he worked, in addition to using some of his children in various capacities. He continued to work in the business until he passed away in February 2002. In an effort to continue that legacy, his children established WT Stevens Construction, Inc. as a corporate entity in April 2002.
Our Leadership Team has a variety of expertise in planning and construction management. Jointly, we have accumulated well over twenty-five years of experience in construction services. WTS has provided construction management and other consulting services for facility renovations, new construction projects and economic development.
